Sending Shipping confirmation back to customers

Does anyone send ship confirmation information back to their customers?  We have a need to be able to do this with our web orders and also with our regular orders.  We are looking for a way to do this through JDE system.

We are on A7.3 *** 11 but looking at upgrading to A9.3.

Set up a version of invoice print that will not update the status. Format the output using BIP to be your ship confirmation form and email via EDD.
