Think Big and Gather Support for Your Idea

Different from our forums, where users can post and reply to have specific question-and-answer interactions, the "ideas" section of the site lets you think big – and put your thoughts out here for the entire community to consider. Whether it's how Quest can improve our services or the big strategic issues you're having with your software, we encourage you to share. Your friends will be voting, our entire community will be watching, and you never know who's going to take your good idea and make it happen.

Company identification

Wouldn't it be nice to have a company directory stratified by ERP family member used (JDE, PS) and by primary line of business? Think of how easy it would then be for a manufacturing company on JDE World to look up another similar company, or the surprise that a PeopleSoft company might have in seeing a familiar company is using PS as well. This would push the social networking aspects of this new website even further...

JDE ITEM MASTER - ITEM BRANCH MASS DATA UPDATE FUNCTIONALITY REQUIRED

JD Edwards requires a lot of Product Data (e.g. Item Master, Item Branch fields) to be populated when a product is created to allow the system to operate.

However, the developers of JDE have not provided for the fact that in a real business many of these fields need to be updated en-mass. For example, the Item Branch may include a Category Code for Master Planning Family - and due to a factory re-structure a list of 5,000 items may need to change F4102.PRP4 from 'M01' to M99'. There is no end-user way of doing this, and any database manipulation carries a sever risk of data corruption.

Given that any fields related to Product information (especially F4101 Item Master and F4102 Item Branch) may need to be updated en-mass for a specific list of items (usually prepared on a spreadsheet), I believe that JDE should have a feature developed which allows users to extract all Item Master/Item Branch table values they choose to a spreadsheet, make changes and re-load back into JDE. When this is reloaded from the grid, it should validate row-by-row using the same validations as if the data was being manually keyed.

Whilst there is a Z Table upload process, this is not usable for the end-user. Also, having this feature would be beneficial for new JDE implementations for initial data uploads and the subsequent corrections and refinements required.

Region/State in Advanced Search

The advanced search in the new Quest Website has most search criteria that people would use...another that would be helpful is a State filter (Region would be nice as well). While it is possible to search for the regional group near you, it would be good to see who is in your state or region (some may not be in a regional group yet)...

UPK Forum?

Would there be interest in starting a UPK forum? I know there are already different social networking sites which host UPK discussions, but this would be the one with a distinct JDE/PS flavor.

Our company is on UPK 3.5.1,  and we am gearing up to use UPK to support our upcoming system upgrades. I know that I would love to hear how PS/JDE users are using UPK at their companies, and I'm betting that others would as well. Please hit me with your feedback.

Dynamic News Feed

I would like to see the news area within the Quest website stream news stories from various online news outlets that would be filtered to provide only information/stories that would be of interest to the Quest community.

A UBE that calls multiple UBEs

It would be handy if JDE had a standard UBE that allows you to add UBE versions into the Processing Options so that when this UBE is generate, all it does is generate the multiple UBEs contained in the Processing Options.

The benefit is where a user has to run a couple of reports, updating UBEs etc at a stage in the process, but they can be done in parallel this saves them clicking to generate multiple UBEs.

Email Validation

Since email addresses are kept in JD Edwards, we noticed that there isn't any email validation within JD Edwards.  By email validation, I mean that JD Edwards should check if there are blanks in the email address, missing @, or missing periods/dots (.) after the @ sign, as examples.

I have submitted this issue with Oracle as Bug 12340506, which they consider an enhancement and is under review.  I'm not sure how this can get pushed, but if others are interested in having this resolved, push Oracle for it by putting in a service request with them.

Session Timeout'ed Web Client User List

I recently was looking for a way to find out Session Timeout'ed user's list in JDE server manager. But could not find any way to gather that information. All the Server Manager shows is Active users list on Web client.

Wouldnt it be nice to be able to tell which users were logged out of the system, what time it happened, what was the time of login etc.

Often times we get complain from the users saying that their session got timed out. But there is no way for an administrator to tell what was the real idle time for that user.

Begin & End Dates for Pay Types

Would like your thoughts on how you work around Pay Types that are no longer valid.

We are in the process of making some internal business changes that would require us to no longer use certain pay types that we have been using since implementing Xe in 2004.  During this process, we remembered that unlike the DBA set up, pay types do not have a begin and end date within their set up.  And of course, deleteing them is not a valid option.

When our field crews key time, we need these pay types not to show when using the visual assist or need the system to validate that its an inactive pay type if keyed.

Is there a work around for this in E1 9.0? (Currently beginning our upgrade process.) Would this be something that the E1 community would benefit from in future releases?

New Group for Oracle JD Edwards & PeopleSoft Business Partner Vendors

I would like to see a Quest Group formed for Oracle JD Edwards & PeopleSoft Business Partner Vendors specializing in World, EnterpriseOne, and PeopleSoft where in addition to finding them in the Solution and Service Provider Directory, we could generate discussion threads aimed towards them as a group.

Sales Billing outside primary/alternate unit of measure

Sales Billing outside primary/alternate unit of measure

If we are selling in Rolls/Pounds and billing in per hundred weight normally

How can we just bill the customer in Area without major customization and rounding issues

with multiple conversions on UOM's?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Version JOBQ review and update

JOBQs assigned at the version level are stored as part of the BLOB instead of as an accessible field in the F983051.  This makes review and documentation of jobq assignments on multiple versions at the same time impossible using a direct tool like either UTB or Databrowser.  Using BV for review of more than a couple of versions becomes time consuming, and updating them is a long tedious process.  Oracle should provide a UBE for reporting jobq assignments by version from the F983051 and for updating these attached jobq in groups.  The update should allow for either all versions attached to an object or a specified list of versions, or a Z table process to update multiple objects and versions in one pass.

Work Order Dispatch Inquiry & Workbench

I have created this application which replaces the custom WO Dispatch report and the printing & assembly of job packets. The only production area which has not been converted is assembly. According to the P&IC person who is responsible for putting the packets together, this application has currently reduced her time by approximately 70%. She now spends 1 hour per day instead of 3 hours per day. This "job packet assembly" function will be eliminated when the assembly area is converted. I use user exit options, selection and function key options, to tie both custom and standard JDE functionalities into the application so that the end user does not have to exit the wo dispatch inquiry screen to perform the standard functionalities.

I am presenting a session at Collaborate '12 in Las Vegas on this application. My objective is to get this functionality into the JDE product, in both World and E1.

Any comments, questions or advice?

Record User Information for Batch Approvals and Postings

Enhance JDE to permanently record the user who approved a batch for posting and the user that posted the batch (i.e., ran the R09801) for the batch.  This would need to allow for multiple postings for voids, added transaction lines, etc.

We are not able to prove to our auditors that we followed company policy which requires an appropriate person to review a batch before it is posted to the general ledger.  The closest way we have to do this is to dig out the paper documentation of a batch.  We are trying to move away from having journal entries received electronically, printed, signed and then scanned to be stored electronically.  If JDE would track who approved an F0911 record for posting, that would eliminate the need for us to print all of our journal entries.  It would also allow us to prepare a report for our auditors to show them who approved each line for posting.

For example, if Tom enters a transaction, Dick approves the transaction for posting and Harry runs the posting job, Tom is recorded to be the originator (GLTORG) and Harry is recorded as having updated the record (GLUSER) temporarily.  There is no record that Dick approved the record to be posted.  Also, if a later process updates the record (e.g., an account reconciliation) the GLUSER is changed and the record of Harry having posted the batch is gone.

Advanced pricing workbench

My customer has been working on JDE since 11years with many fusion, acquisition, split companies.

Many adjustments have been created with different definition (hierarchy, line based on complex group definition, group, order,...) with different currencies and of course, effectivity.

How could we inquire all pricing adjustments easily ?  Within the last version  (A9.2), there is no enhancment of this kind.

Should it be possible to create a new transaction : advanced pricing workbench ? In the header, all main fields (adjustment name, form/to fields, item group and customer groupe,... in order to refine and filter all active pricing values in order to have a global vision.

(like a grid in E1)

What do you think about this idea ?

Project Management: What Does It Mean to You?

Surveys show that COLLABORATE attendees want more information on Project Management. As we look for speakers for COLLABORATE 12 in Las Vegas, we want to know what you need. What ideas do you have about project management? What information would make managing your projects more streamlined?

Additional info for PDBA set up

It would be great if there was an additional free form text field for PDBAs that allowed the users to make notes about the particular PDBA.....like the purpose of the PDBA, or why the PDBA ended, etc.
