EVENTS > QUEST MIDWEST CONFERENCE > EDUCATION TRACKS

A list of education tracks have been selected by the regional user group knowledge committee and include:

Architecture (ARC)
As a technology professional, you have the ability to guide a company’s direction. Part of your evolving responsibilities includes implementing “best practices,” understanding viable future technologies. Your knowledge will help lead discussions to apply technology to the changing needs of the business. This track will cover the information you need to participate in your company’s architecture and infrastructure decisions surrounding the database environment. Topics will focus on an enterprise scope when dealing with networks, hardware, backup strategies, disaster recovery, data management and technology trends.

Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM)
Organizations are realizing significant cost savings and improved planning capabilities through integration of the entire asset lifecycle. From capital planning and budgeting, to procurement and operations, to maintenance and repair ALM can maximize profitability and return on investment across the entire asset lifecycle

Business Intelligence / Warehousing (BI/DW)
Business Intelligence, knowledge management, data mining, analytics.... What does it all mean? What does it have to do with my data warehouse and databases? Today you have to do more than tune your data warehouse. You have to start at the beginning with the design and work through to the deployment, then keep it tuned for peak performance. Plus you need to make the most of that stored data by analyzing it and using it to give your company a competitive advantage. Business Intelligence has moved beyond the data warehouse to access other data sources; learn how BI is helping companies make the right decisions. This track examines the growth of business intelligence and the partnership with data warehousing to make the most of your key data sources.

Customer Relationship (CRM)
The customer is always right, so you need to be right about your customers. Creating profitable, loyal customers is the ultimate goad of customer relationship (CR) – customers who will continue to buy from you when a competitive alternative exists. Learn how to achieve that loyalty.

Database (DB)
The Oracle relational database continues to evolve to include more new features and as a result has become ever more complicated. On top of all of the daily challenges of maintaining a high performance database, now you have to be sure the data are available 24x7 and compatible with other systems. This track is designed to provide DBAs of every experience level and industry with the tools to productively and creatively administer your data.

Development (DEV)
Working in application development means you need to know an alphabet soup of languages and need to be able to perform a balancing act between the middle-tier and client-based applications. What will give you the edge to create successful applications? Do you use Oracle’s suite of tools, something open source, or do you need to look for something that you can integrate? Most importantly, how will your applications be used – thin or thick client, internet or intranet, wireless, or portal? This track will help guide your development to create an application that stands the test of time or at least the next trendy buzz-word programming style.

Financial (FIN)
Financial provides the regimen needed to maintain the health and well being of the organization. This track will cover the systems and processes that enable efficient operations and support strong internal financial controls

Human Capital (HC)
In the face of brutal competition, leaders must drive superior levels of efficiency and performance throughout their operations. This track will discuss how Human Capital can be employed to create a direct line of sight between key objectives and workforce performance, improving operating and financial results.

Manufacturing (MF)
In order to compete in the manufacturing arena, companies must deal with pressures of globalization, increasing supply chain complexity and increasing customer expectations. Learn how different companies are gaining a competitive edge by building responsive and lean manufacturing organizations.

Master Data Management/Application Integration (MDM)
Master Data Management (MDM) is a set of disciplines, processes and technologies for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, timeliness and consistency of the most important types (or domains) of master data in the enterprise - across different applications, systems and databases, and across multiple business processes, functional areas, organizations, geographies and channels. The most common MDM domains are customer data (a subset of MDM known as Customer Data Integration or CDI), and product data (a subset of MDM known as Product Information Management or PIM). Critical MDM capabilities include data governance and stewardship, data quality, identity management, enrichment, grouping, synchronization, and process management.

Middleware (MW)
Getting more out of what you already have enables your company to operate, adapt and expand their business. It is now the norm for applications to deliver content via web browsers and to get the information from the database we need to exploit application servers. This is a skill you must have in today’s expanding information architecture and Oracle Application Server (Fusion Middleware) is an expanding technology that you will need to control within your company and system architecture.  This track is oriented to help the Application Server Administrator fully utilize the power of the middleware to deliver and secure your information.

Oracle Services (OS)
What happens after your implementation or upgrade is finished? Where do you turn for continued support and training to keep organization up-to-date? This track includes sessions to fill you in on the Oracle services that can keep you on the cutting edge long after your initial go-live. Topics range from training management and Oracle Support to product enhancements and how you can be involved.

Order Management (Sales) (OM)
Order management is the integrated suite of Order and Sales applications. Order management (Sales) is a subset of both Supply Chain and CRM, all topics with regard to ordering or selling to the customer will be covered under this track.

Professional Development (PD)
To become the complete Oracle technology professional it is not enough to just know how to tune a database or build a Web page. You also need to have ALL the soft skills to stand out in the sea of IT professionals and to move ahead and up in your career. Skills like risk analysis, project management, determining return on investment, resolving conflicts and team-building are just as valuable in the work place as knowing the ins and outs of technology. This track highlights the ‘other’ professional and personal skills you need to get ahead to advance your IT career.

Project Management (PM)
Developing software, building a community center, performing research, or creating a global marketing plan—all these activities have one thing in common. They're all projects. Each has a start and end date. Each has a budget, stakeholders, timelines, and tasks. Each relies on an individual to lead the charge. And, each is made up of many people, with the right skills, coming together at the right time. Project Management crosses multiple disciplines and functional modules. This track will include information specific to the Project Modules within the Oracle suite of products.

Supplier Relationship (SR)
Even with today’s technology, it is difficult for businesses to react efficiently to inaccurate forecasts, supply chain interruptions and rapid demand changes. Therefore, today’s SR solutions need to go beyond simple communication. Discover why SR must reach inside each connected organization to optimize the relationship between enterprises and their suppliers.

Supply Chain (SC)
The Supply Chain Management track covers basic ERP modules, as well as complementary systems and practices, such as eProcurement and Spend Management. Effective supply chain management demands comprehensive information systems that allow you to synchronize plans with your customers and suppliers, collaborate in real time both inside and outside your enterprise, execute plans, adapt to a dynamic environment and measure performance to objectives.

Presentation types range from customer experience, best practices and round table discussions to development tips, product updates and the latest releases.
