What is the Quest Fusion Council?
The Quest Fusion Council was formed to collect, coordinate and communicate product direction priorities of users with regard to the Oracle product-in-development known as Fusion Applications. It does this by taking the feedback gained from the special interest, product and industry user groups (SIGs, PUGs and IUGs) that are affiliated with Quest, organizing that feedback and ensuring that it flows into the Product Development Council of the IOUC and to Oracle Development.
Our objective is to partner with Quest's members, SIGs/PUGs/IUGs and through the IOUC Product Development Council to inform Oracle Development of the preferred functionality and technical capabilities for the Fusion product. Further objectives as stated in the Fusion Council charter:
- Work to establish and publish required industry and product specific business functionality, enhancements and requirements with particular attention being paid to LOST functionality.
- Work with Oracle on quality testing initiatives as appropriate
- Provide users with information regarding product roadmaps, upgrade and migration “jump off” points
- Educate users on progress and production roll out of Fusion modules
What is the role of SIGs, PUGs and IUGs in the Fusion Council?
The Quest Fusion Council will be comprised of volunteers from the special interest, product and industry user groups affiliated with Quest. Part of Quest’s role as an umbrella organization is to ensure the voices of affiliated user communities are heard. Each affiliated SIG, IUG and PUG has the option to appoint a representative to the Fusion Council to participate in module/process reviews as well as pass along updates and feedback gathered from within their own SIG/IUG/PUG. The emphasis is on two-way-flow of communication between the affiliated groups and the Quest Fusion Council, so that the Fusion Council is aware of affiliated SIG/PUG/IUG initiatives and priorities, and vice versa.
Thus the special interest, product and industry user groups are a driving force behind recommending what the Fusion product should eventually look like. This makes sense, as these organizations are comprised of users who have chosen to volunteer their work and personal time to enhance a specific section of their application focused on their product or industry. They are perhaps the most focused group of users with which Oracle could consult to ensure Fusion functionality meets the needs of the customer base.
What is the relationship between the Fusion Council and the IOUC Product Development Council?
The Product Development Council is an initiative of the International Oracle User Community (IOUC), in which Quest participates. Among the Product Development Council’s key initiatives is to receive feedback that the various IOUC member organizations are gathering with regard to Fusion. Therefore, all of the information gained through our Fusion Council will be funneled through the IOUC Product Development Council. The same is no doubt true for information gained by the other IOUC-member organization initiatives.
How can I get involved in the Fusion Council?
